Mui Ne, Phan Thiet, Vietnam (Nov’16)

From HCMC, a bus ticket to Mui Ne costs 120k VND and it takes approximately 5 hours to reach. I recommend Phuong Nam bus (ticket office in Pham Ngu Lao street), double-decker sleeping coach with wifi. They have 2 early slots, 8am or 11am and the coach will pick you up at the opposite side of the ticket office (along 23/9 park).

Along Nguyen Dinh Chieu street lies all resorts and hotels by the beach. The town is very popular with Russian package tour tourists which means most of the restaurants have signs, names, menus in Russian. In recent years, with the decline of the Russian Ruble, Russian tourist numbers have dropped.

Accommodation: Mui Ne Hills Bliss Hotel
Price: USD40 per night, sea-view room with huge balcony and breakfast.

The hotel is amazing with 2 swimming pools and fantastic bar lounge. Food and drink menu is reasonable and delicious. The staffs are sweet and supper friendly. Mostly travellers (Europeans) and very few Vietnamese tourists.

Highly recommended.

We took a morning tour with the hotel to visit the dunes.
It was 60k VND for 5hr tour, started from 4am. First stop was White sand dune for sun rise. However, it was cloudy, we coudn’t see the sun rising clearly. The walk to the top of the dune was mesmerising though.

It was great to smell such freshness of the sea and the busy-ness of fishermen, fishmongers to start the early seafood market.

The last stop of the morning tour was fairy stream. We walked along to enjoy the cooling stream and surrounding view. The stream is being dyed by red rock along its bank.

As our hotel is located just a street behind the beach, we took a stroll cutting through the beach-front resort. Kite surfing is a popular sport. Waves are not strong enough for normal surf but just right for kite-surf.

And believe it or not, our dinner was at the same restaurant for all three nights! I seriously recommend this “Forest restaurant” to anyone coming to Mui Ne. They have band playing traditional musical instruments and old folk songs every nights, the ambiance was great and the food was affordable.
